$1.00This old Amish heirloom variety produces a tight bibb-like head with leaves that have a fascinating pattern of bright red speckles on lime green. Leaves grow 25cm tall and have a mild buttery taste.
Sow seed in a sunny or semi-shaded area. Seed can be sown every 2 weeks from April to August as long as the weather is cool. Keep lettuce well watered through the season.
Harvest by cutting off selected leaves or by pulling the entire plant then trimming off the stem with a sharp knife.

Pepper sweet – Early calwonder OSC
$1.00These 75cm sturdy plants produce very mild fruit. Sweet peppers are 4 lobed and average 10cm long and 7cm wide. Thick deep green flesh ripens to a deep scarlet. Great for flavouring, pickling, stuffing, and salads.
Start indoors mid-February to late March in a soilless medium. Grow seedlings under bright light at 18°C. Transplant after hardening off in late May.
Keep evenly watered. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers. Harvest after colour changes for the best taste and quality.
